Fake Right-Wing OB$E$$ION: Obama to Kill Talk Radio.

Right wing radio is carrying on this week that Obama will try to shut them down by bringing back the "fairness doctrine." Left wingers across the country are serious when they say "Gimme a break"! We no longer want the fairness doctrine and besides, the reasons it was first imposed, in the 1940s, due to "limited broadcast resources", is no longer true. There are tons of broadcast resources today, including the web.

I "dugg" the article and commented...

I just can't help but wonder, if the tables were turned, would the right wingers have that Fairness Doctrine imposed faster than you could say "put Reagan on Mt. Rushmore!"

They already tried, using "decency" instead of "fairness." See "Howard Stern," but don't think your assholes can get away with it any better than the right wingnuts did. I stopped them, and I'll stop the lefties just as fast, with a little help from my free speech friends. Principles trump parties, and in this case, the Democrats and Republicans both want to use the same big-government agency as their own personal censors, and as far as I'm concerned, both sides can fuck off and die.

You're right, [the Righties] went after [left wing] Pacifica Radio under Bush One in the late 80s and early 90s, claiming they [Pacifica] represented "Hate Speech." While Pacifica survived the government onslaught, they were harassed and fined into doing less commentary.
and then I added:
Assholes always show up at every party. Dig it! Free Speech, love it or lose it.
