Lyrics:
Always on my mind
Always in my heart

I`ve been waiting for you night after night
Like a shadow staying close to the light

Suddenly you stand beside me and I see
A million burning stars
Oh

Chorus:
You are
Always on my mind
Always in my heart
And I can hear you call my name
On a mountain`s high
Always on my mind
Always in my dreams
I wanna hold you close to me
Always all the time

I believe I`m addicted to you
In your eyes I see dreams coming true
Finally I have found you and now
I will never let you go
No

Chorus

Biography
AySel was born in Baku on 25th April 1989 in the family of a University professor. Her Zodiac sign is Taurus, the underpinning of her ambitious, committed, self-confident personality, who loves the atmosphere of competition. AySel is just 19, but her ambition coupled with the faith in her talent has already led the young artist to the main stage of the European show business, the Eurovision Song Contest stage, as the representative of Azerbaijan.

Education and hobbies. AySel went to the prestigious Intellect high school in Baku, Azerbaijan. The ambitious girl was not satisfied with the information and skills she was learning in her classes, and engaged actively in self-education and self-reflection from early school age. She swims since she was born. At five she has started to take ballet classes along with gymnastic classes. At nine, AySel is the art school student, she takes part in city exhibitions, and her paintings are greatly successful among admirers of children’s art. At twelve, she is a member of the school … handball team! AySel was considering if she should fully dedicate herself to this sport, but finally decides that handball will just be her sports hobby. At the same time, she begins to study German and Spanish by herself – besides English she had already been studying. At fourteen, AySel is actively learning dancing and choreography, mostly Latin-American dances.

Music. AySel remembers clearly her first public performance when she was eight. She and her parents went to visit their friends. The guests, knowing about AySel’s great vocal talent, asked the then shy girl to sing for them. AySel agreed under the condition that she would sing on a chair imagine herself on stage. When she performed Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On, silence fell and then loud applause filled the room. “I have never sang on a chair any more. From that moment on, I have easily agreed to perform when my parents or friends asked me to,” AySel recalls with laughter.
At this age, AySel begins to take part in national vocalists’ competitions. In 2001, she wins the prestigious Azerbaijani contest Рohre. At thirteen, AySel enters a Baku music school where she learns to play the piano and sings in the choir. The piano is AySel’s passion since childhood. No wonder, since AySel’s parents still keep a unique XVIII-century piano at home.

USA. In 2004, AySel goes to study in the US as a student of exchange program FLEX. Within days from her arrival to the US, she signs up for the local choir and begins training for young vocalists competitions.
During her year in the US, AySel won 3 gold medals at prestigious contests which were held in the Southern Arkansas University and University of Texas at Austin:
- February 2005 – 1st prize and gold medal, Foreign Songs Contest, Southern Arkansas University, Arkansas, USA
- May 2005 - Solo – 1st prize, Young vocalists contest, University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA
- May 2005 – as a choir’s lead singer - 1st prize, Young vocalists contest, University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA

During her time in the US another AySel's dream came true – she began to travel. She finally had a chance to go to New York, Washington D.C., state of Pennsylvania, state of Florida, New Jersey, state of Delaware, state of Alabama, state of Louisiana, state of Mississippi, state of Virginia and so on. AySel recalls that now she knows States but she still have one more long-awaited dream to realize. This year she's finally going to visit London, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid and other European capitals she wanted to see her whole life.

Baku. Upon her return to Baku, AySel takes part in the television project Yeni Ulduz 4 (“New Star 4”) where she goes straight to the final. When the project ends in 2006, AySel becomes a student at the International Relations department of the Azerbaijani University of Foreign Languages. Currently, she continues her studies and is simultaneously working hard to prepare for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow.

AySel’s music idols are Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Celine Dion, Ella Fitzgerald, Beyonce, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Babyface.

Songs creators have named this composition "the romantic anthem for Eurovision 2009". More than a month this song was under diligent work to make it great for the best result at Eurovision 2009 for Azerbaijan.

Always is a 100% European hit for this spring. This song is unexpected mix from the best European musical drifts and traditional Azeri musical culture. Songs author Arash confessed that it was his principal idea to create not just new European hit among all others but to make a unique composition which would be associated with Land of Fire Azerbaijan and its culture.

Even at the song introduction you can hear Azeri national instrument called tar. Tar became the lead instrument during Always creation process. For the authenticity sound well-known Azeri tarist Sahib Pashazade was involved in the recording process. Author of song Arash studied different sounding instruments of Azerbaijan and decided on the sonorous and distinctive tar. "First I couldn't imagine how tar will sound in our song", tells AySel, "but when I heard the final result of the recording I realised that this is exactly what is doing Always more colourful and original, this is what should be in any Eurovision hit, aiming for the victory"

"I believe in our song - said Arash. - This is absolutely European format but at the same time there are many unique elements of Azeri music and culture. Our song is incredibly romantic. I am sure that everyone will find own love story in it. It is not important whether you have such story or it is just ahead. If you believe in it - it will happen".

Young Azeri singer AySel admitted that this song is very intimate to her because she is waiting for such strong and romantic feeling for herself as she can find and sing in this song. Im 19 and I can tell you that I was in love, - AySel said. But now Im waiting for such a strong and engrossing feeling in my life, like that one we are singing about with Arash in our song. I cant wait to find that special someone that only one whom will spell my name and all the mountains are high!

I hope that all Azerbaijani and European music fans will love song Always as we do, said songwriter Arash - We, together with AySel believe in our song and hope that you will provide us the support we need!

Now the duo is working hard to create a stage performance for the song Always. It is currently known that staging of the song will contain elements of Azerbaijani culture and will impress viewer with it's brightness and spectacle. Hello, AySel and Arash, and first of all, our congratulations for being selected the Azerbaijani representatives at Eurovision 2009! How do you feel now, being Eurovision participants?
AySel: Thank you for the congratulations! It’s an amazing and life-changing experience, I feel like my whole world has turned brand new and I’m very exited about everything that’s going on.
Arash: You know, it’s a very complex feeling – like I’m doing something very new for myself and creating a part of history at the same time. Plus I’ve got a beautiful and talented girl near me – every man’s dream!

- AySel, can you tell us how you’ve got the idea to apply to the national Eurovision preselection in Azerbaijan?
AySel: First of all, I`m a big fan of Eurovision. Since I was a child I was dreaming about participating in the contest. And I was so glad that our country started with a big success last year. In September my friends told me about the national selection to this competition. I decided to participate and to try myself and succeed! It’s just awesome! I pursued my dream and it is actually here!

- When you were informed that you’re the choice of the Azerbaijani jury, what was your first reaction?
AySel: The first reaction was like – am I dreaming? I was really shocked with this phone call! It was like – I’m just 19 years old, I’m a student actually and I will represent whole Azerbaijan! It’s an amazing opportunity and a lot of responsibility but I’m proud to do it.

- Have you actively taken part in the selection of the song for your performance, or it was left in the hands of the professional jury as well?
AySel: No, I didn’t. It was left to the professional jury but their choice is all I could’ve even dreamt about – an energetic and very romantic song that totally fits me in every possible way. Always in my mind, always… (singing) Oh, I’d better stop ‘cause I can sing and sing endlessly.

- Arash, is it true that you have decided to apply to Azerbaijan preselection as a songwriter spontaneously, reading the information in the Internet?
Arash: I had a concert in December in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. So that was the first time I’ve heard about the national song selection but that time it was kind of rumors. Later I found out about the song contest in the Internet and it really hit me – why not? As you see I was right.

- Can you tell us the story of the song creation, was it written specially for Eurovision, or was it one of your older songs waiting for its time to shine?
Arash: As I said, it was written for Eurovision and for AySel. The main idea of the song was in my mind for quite a long period but it was just a simple tune. When I saw the news about the Azerbaijani National Selection and saw the beauty of AySel for the first time I just could not get rid of the lines in my head... Always on my mind, always in my dream….

- When submitting the song, were you proposing it to be performed as a duet, or how else this idea has been born?
Arash: I didn’t expect that Always will be performed as the duet but the idea was born spontaneously and I’m very happy how everything worked out!

- Tell us how you’ve got acquainted? What was the first impression of both of you about the other part of the duet?
AySel: I’ve known Arash as a famous musician and songwriter so I was shocked when I’ve heard for the first time that he wrote a song and this song is for me! I remember my first impression when I met him in the studio. I felt very comfortable with Arash after 5-10 minutes of conversation! So it was so easy to spend almost 48 hours in the studio recording the Always song after that ( laughing).
Arash: AySel is a perfect match for the duet – she is amazingly talented, got great and unforgettable voice and she is so beautiful. So I think the other part of the duet is perfect for me.

- How can you describe your song Always in one phrase?
AySel: The romantic anthem for Eurovision 2009.
Arash: And I’ve got nothing else to add, AySel has told everything.

- It was decided to change the arrangement of the song for it to become a more national product, with Azerbaijani traditional instruments. Are you satisfied with the result?
Arash: I like how everything sounds now. We’ve used tar, the national Azeri instrument, and it gave this song a unique sound and vibe that I’ve always wanted to hear.

- Are you planning to record new versions of the track, other languages, remixes? May be a version in Russian or Azeri?
Arash: Russian or Azeri? Good idea for the nearest future! But now we want to focus on the promotion of the original Always version.

- You have already filmed the music video for your entry, a simple one but none the less impressive. Can you tell us more about its creation?
AySel: It was a new experience for me. I didn’t expect that so many people should work for the 3-minute music video. Actually, we were doing the shooting after the concerts in Moscow and Bratislava at the Eurovision National Finals. Honestly, Arash and I were a little tired. But as you see finally we got an incredibly energetic video, like the song itself. Find it here if you haven’t seen it. So all the team did a great job I think.
Arash: Yeap, we’ve done a huge amount of work. It took more than 15 hours to shoot. It’s all about the amazing energy among us and around us.

- You have already started your promotional tour, do you think in general that pre-contest promotion is important for the contest success? What will be your next tour destinations?
AySel: I don’t know our next destination of the promo tour? Arash, do you?
Arash: Why me? I don’t know and as our producer told us, it’s secret information!
(both laughing)
AySel: Ok, let’s tell the true story to the audience. We decided to change a bit our performance so we are focusing on that now. What we are actually doing on the secret base in Europe and what will be our next promotional tour destination you’ll know very soon.

- Besides promotours, how and where your rehearsals usually take place?
AySel & Arash: We are in Stockholm now rehearsing a lot to make an amazing performance for the audience.

- What are your favourite entries from the past of Eurovision contest?
AySel: Among my favorite songs are Abba – Waterloo (Sweden), Maria Serifovic – Molitva (Serbia), Maria – Hold on be strong (Norway) and so much more. It’s very hard to pick one from such a huge amount of amazing songs!
Arash: I am keen on the winners of Eurovision of last years. We had a lot of really amazing performances recently I should say.

- What do you think is more important for Eurovision success: song, performer or the show?
Arash: Everything. You can’t take out any part of it. The song must be amazing, the performance – huge and unique and the performer is that one who makes every other part work.

- Eurovision is sometimes labeled a political contest. Do you think of it as a political event?
AySel: No, for us it’s an opportunity to present a great song and to introduce Azerbaijan, the Land of Fire, to European viewers.

- What will be your aim in the contest?
AySel: I think you don’t need to bother even to go and take part in some competition if you don’t want to win it. We’ll do everything possible to take Azerbaijan up high!
Arash: So we will do everything possible to win.

- Finally, if you wish to leave any message to the visitors of our site you can do it now.
Arash: I wish you to be always faithful to your LOVE.
AySel: Guys, thank you for all your support! Lots of kisses from the Land of Fire and see you in Moscow! Always yours AySel & Arash.

- Many thanks for the interview, good luck with preparations and see you in Moscow!
