Did anybody vote Tuesday?

A "special election" was held here in California on Tuesday, asking "the people" to approve a bunch of malarkey.
WHAT!? Another GODDAMN SPECIAL ELECTION?? WTF!!!

The one that recalled Gray Davis took the cake. The Republicans caused such a panic over Gray Davis, they got a special recall election on the ballot and installed movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor. The Governator, whose strings are pulled by the despicable Pete Wilson, a man who destroyed California as we once knew it, then went on the call for a second special election to pass a bunch of malarkey that nobody knew what it was, only that Governator wanted it and that should be good enough.

The people rejected it. The Governator agreed, no more Special Elections. Cut to the state of the California economy and the devastating policies of George W. Bush, that by 2008, California has no money left. Yet remnant pockets of extremist Republicans still not yet fired by the people for gross mismanagement are still in place to hurt the people. The battle of the budget 2008-2009 was to culminate in yet another Republican-inspired Special Election!

The way it came down was the Legislature was being held hostage by a "gang" of Republican State Senators or Assembly people, I don't know which house, because they pledged to never raise taxes under any circumstances. Problem is, the budget has to be balanced. So, that left the Democrats to take cuts to programs, like education, day care, medicine and assistance to the poor. The Democrats compromised enough on program cuts until they felt the relationship was getting way to one-sided. It was time for the Republicans to give something up too. They said they couldn't give up a thing because they signed a pledge. This put the Governator in a bind, so the great compromise was to put the questions of cutting programs or raising taxes to the voters.

A special election was called, except nobody knew about it. It was a half-assed solution. A turnout of 25% was all there was to participate in the games of the California government, which we elected.

Some of the proposals cut programs, some raised taxes. These omnibus type proposals have no business being in an initiative because the Legislature and State Senate couldn't handle it, let alone in a special election. While no coverage of this special election was to be found anywhere, the press covered how low the turnout would be and then how low it was.
