With a Third Heat Wave before June, Time Again to Blog The Weather!

Here in Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley of California, we are in the middle of the third heat wave so far this year of the heat wave season. Check out what was posted on the Weather Service web site about last night's coolest temperature ....

TODAY...

THE LOW TEMPERATURE AT MEADOWS FIELD...BAKERSFIELD...THIS MORNING
WAS 72 DEGREES. THIS TIES THE RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR
THE DATE...LAST SET IN 2003.

THE LOW TEMPERATURE AT FRESNO YOSEMITE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT THIS
MORNING WAS 69 DEGREES. THIS TIES THE RECORD HIGH MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE...LAST SET IN 2003.

Heat waves, if the winds are right, bring up huge amounts of wet, hot air from the Gulf of Mexico and Golfo de California. And This one brought in heavy rains in the Northern Sierra, then an unusual severe t-storm that hung out all afternoon in San Luis Obispo County. As night fell, it retreated inland and gave the South Valley quite a thrill. By 10 pm, it still had something left in it for Fresno! I just witnessed some impressive cloud to ground lightning tonight... but I didn't have my camera :-(
