The Golf Bag's Revenge

A member of the local golf club swears not only that this really happened, but that he's one of the crowd who actually witnessed it.

After a disastrous round of golf, a foursome had at long last reached the final hole - the one where a little stream runs right beside the green, and you have to make your final putt in full view of the clubhouse.

Three of the players weren't playing badly, but the fourth was having the sort of round where he couldn't have hit the proverbial barn door. With each successive missed putt, he got madder... and the madder he got, the more his concentration suffered, and the worse he played.

Finally, after 8 missed putts, he snapped. He hurled his putter to the ground and started jumping up and down on it. He then rammed it back into his golf bag, hurled the whole bag to the ground, and repeatedly jumped up and down on that - and the several thousand dollars' worth of clubs inside.

Still not content, he retrieved his battered golf bag from the grass and in fury pitched it into the middle of the stream before stalking off the course with as much dignity as he could muster, ignoring as best he could the crowd of sightseers staring in disbelief through the massive window of the clubhouse lounge.

They were still there when a few minutes later he returned, walked towards the stream, took off his shoes and socks, rolled up his trouser legs and in obvious embarrassment waded out into the freezing water.

He'd left his car keys in his golf bag pocket.

There are much better, non-embarrassing and vastly less expensive ways to deal with stress. You can find one here.
