$200 billion spent on shopping online in 2007

The Power Of Online Shopping By Lorna Darden

Shopping Online is growing bigger and bigger every year, In 2007 it is reported that there were 200 billion dollars made by shopping online. It not only saves you gas but also saves you time and money, but you pay fewer taxes and shipping is usually free with a purchases over $50.

When shopping online you help save the environment by keeping fewer cars off the roads. Less emissions is better for the environment. It is reported that 84% of people online bought something off the internet. Online shopping topped 64 billion in 2004 and two years later it has gotten better and went to $107 billion and now it is 200 billion. Those are some huge numbers just for shopping online it is really popular and it's going to get even more popular.

Online shopping saves you from getting caught up in bad traffic, saves you from running from store to store and is actually easy on the mind and very convenient for families who are just to busy to go to a store looking around and trying to find an item that's not in stock or just cost too much. Shopping Online is becoming more of a commonplace for most. Online shopping in the U.S will double to $137 billion in the next five years that's a lot of shopping! With saving time 19% Internet users shop online per week and that percentage is going to grow.

More people would want to shop online if they knew it was a way for them to make money every time they shopped online. Imagine how much money that'll be made just for people shopping online and you getting a profit every time someone shops. Products always in stock, shipping always on time , you save gas, money and you get free shipping you can't get no better than that.

Why Should I Make a Budget?

You say you know where your money goes and you don’t need it all written down to keep up with it? I issue you this challenge. Keep track of every penny you spend for one month and I do mean every penny.

You will be shocked at what the itty-bitty expenses add up to. Take the total you spent on just one unnecessary item for the month, multiply it by 12 for months in a year and multiply the result by 5 to represent 5 years.

That is how much you could have saved AND drawn interest on in just five years. That, my friend, is the very reason all of us need a budget.

If we can get control of the small expenses that really don’t matter to the overall scheme of our lives, we can enjoy financial success.

The little things really do count. Cutting what you spend on lunch from five dollars a day to three dollars a day on every work day in a five day work week saves $10 a week… $40 a month… $480 a year… $2400 in five years….plus interest.

See what I mean… it really IS the little things and you still eat lunch everyday AND that was only one place to save money in your daily living without doing without one thing you really need. There are a lot of places to cut expenses if you look for them.

Set some specific long term and short term goals. There are no wrong answers here. If it’s important to you, then it’s important period.

If you want to be able to make a down payment on a house, start a college fund for your kids, buy a sports car, take a vacation to Aruba… anything… then that is your goal and your reason to get a handle on your financial situation now.

Low Cost Health Insurance: Should I ?

To protect and preserve one's health, low cost health insurance is needed. Due to the increasing costs of doctor's professional fees and hospital charges, there should be low cost health insurance available to everyone. US government statistics show that more than 40 million Americans do not have low cost health insurance. Health care prices are rapidly and continuously going up and many people cannot even afford basic health care insurance.

Low cost health insurance are programs that offers health insurance policies at a much lower price. Students, the unemployed and low-income families are the best candidates for such low cost health insurance. These people can choose from a list of low cost health insurance policies that offer coverage at a minimal price. These low cost health insurances offer low premiums compared to the other health insurance programs out there. In some of these plans, the employer pays part of the premium. It is important that, although not expensive, the plan should fit the individual's needs. The low cost health insurance plan should also offer protection against major illnesses such as cancer and diabetes.

The disadvantage of low cost health insurance is that, because of the lower premium, there are also less benefits. The low cost health insurance typically offers basic coverage such as paying the cost of hospital, surgical, and physician bills. Operating room, diagnostic procedures, anesthesia, and laboratory expenses are usually covered also. However, individuals with low cost health insurance get very few of the great benefits that are offered by other health insurance programs such as surgical expenses including the assistant surgeon's professional fee, ambulance service, blood transfusions, oxygen, prescription medications, and even prosthetic devices.

Student health insurance is a type of low cost health insurance, which offers insurance to full time college students between the ages of 17 to 19. The undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least nine credits to quailfy for this type of insurance. Graduate students may also apply for this type of low cost health insurance program. These students should be enrolled in a college or university that is recognized and accredited by the state. Universities and colleges usually offer this type of student low cost health insurance so if college bound, check the coverage being offered because each university's insurance policy is different. Other low cost health insurance providers can provide student health insurance also.

The most important advantage of this low cost health insurance program is the cost. A low premium is offered. It is also recognized even if the student transfers to another university or college. The standard college student health insurance program is a low cost health insurance policy that costs less but has fewer benefits. Independent individual policies cost more but offer much better coverage.

GPS Hacks: Mio C320

I bought myself a Mio C320 at RadioShack yesterday for $200. They had a great sale on memory cards, so I got a 4GB SDHC card too. Plenty of room for hacks, right? Yeah.
The forum I got the unlock stuff from is very tough to navigate I think. For those interested, this is what I used.
So what can an "Unlocked" GPS do? I'd think a lot more than what I've got so far. Of course Windows CE 5.0 Core it could run most of those Pocket PC programs. Screen size and orientation are different, of course. You have zero buttons on this thing.. No action games. I've not yet gotten an NES emulator that works and will show the on-screen controls.. but it'd be no fun touch-screen anyway...
The #1 thing -- Video Player. It does all the essential formats -- DivX and even Flash Video [FLV]. I've only tried a 16M DivX, without any re-encoding, and it played on my 400MHz ARM like a champ. Not sure if a movie will though, but hey it's 400MHz and could always re-encode i guess.
I got it thinking I could use it like a Palm Pilot as well. So far I've not found any organizer applications to load onto it. :( Calculators are useful. I'd LOVE to get the TI-89 emulator to work! I see the calculator screen but not the keys (kinda same problem I have with PocketNES). It's all related to the GAPI I believe...
GAPI Emulator for HPC's, seems to support this GPS directly too though!
No one visits this page I'm certain, but after the holidays I'd like to make a collection of applications, and do my own tweaks to this unlock program, and post them here. Then I'll be famous (are you the guy that dumped Zelda Phantom Hourglass!!?!?). ;)
Oh, another resource and lovely looking page: How to Unlock Mio C230. It seems the two devices aren't very different aside from the screen size.

The Yellow Rose Of Winter

You can say it's down to global warming if you like (though thanks to the frosts we've been having this week it doesn't feel much like it), but just two streets away from here, behind a low wall and with some savage-looking thorns on either side of it, there blooms one single yellow rose.

No, it's not the "last rose of summer" sort of flower - you know the kind of thing, where it's been blooming for a while and it's just to say managing to hang on to its half-way withered petals.

This one is a real, live, brand-new, very healthy-looking, fragrant yellow rose.

I've been watching the bud for a few days now, not really daring to believe that such a flower could possibly be going to emerge in the middle of December, especially after all the frost... but it's defied the elements, and there it stands in all its beauty and its inspiration.

It seems to lift the spirits of everyone who sees it. People stop to admire it, and wave to the lady who hovers just inside the window, anxiously watching as if she's scared that someone's going to take it home with them (yes, I admit the thought had crossed my mind - but no, I wouldn't really).

People who've seen the rose already smile indulgently at those who are staring at it, awestruck, for the first time. Total strangers greet each other as they marvel at the unexpected sight. This rose is causing a real stir in the neighborhood.

So, where's the useful lesson in all this?

Well, the key lies in just what the rose is doing. Regardless of what other roses do, like blooming in the summertime, this one is simply doing what comes naturally - to it.

No-one's ever told it that it that it's not supposed to flower in December. No-one's conditioned it to believe it should feel guilty that it's bloomed too late for this year's summer and it's way ahead of next year's.

Regardless of the calendar, that rose has simply felt the urge to flower, and, to the delight of all the neighborhood, has vigorously and uninhibitedly gone ahead and done it.

It's simply followed the inner prompting to do all that it can do, and to be all that it can be... and that's exactly what we're all supposed to do.

You own talent doesn't need to be as unexpected and as startling as a rose that flowers in December. It can be something so commonplace that you see it only as the equivalent as one of the many daisies in the grass in springtime.

It doesn't matter in the slightest what it is... as long as it's your own, and you develop it and use it to the best of your ability, in some direction that your deepest inner prompting urges you.

If shyness and inhibition are preventing you from doing that, you can find the easiest, most pleasant way to conquer them by checking out Project Your Real, Dynamic Self at Supreme-Success.com.

The unexpected blossoming of just one yellow rose has brightened the lives of all those who have seen it. If you, too, will only be all you can be and do all you can do, you, also, will enrich the lives of many people - and the most important one will be your own.

Better Than A Feast (Part 2)

If you're looking for success in internet marketing, here's another example of how important it is to strike a balance between what you want and what the people on your mailing list will stand for.

In a recent posting I wrote of my annoyance at being mailed by the same person 6 times in one weekend. Didn't someone once say, "You ain't seen nothing yet"? Well, I obviously hadn't.

I've now received an e-mail from another marketer whose list I'd joined because he promised me he'd never mail me more than once a week. That was fine with me.

Unfortunately, despite his promise, it clearly wasn't fine with him. His latest e-mail boasted that he'd been doing an internet marketing course, and he'd learned a great new marketing technique.

All he had to do to multiply his earnings beyond recognition, he said, was mail his list, not once a week, as promised, and not even once a day, but several times a day. As if to prove it, there were three other mails from him downloading while I read the first one.

He may not have been aware of it, but sending more mails than you've promised is not regarded as giving extra value - it's actually classed as spam.

You have to have consent to send commercial mails to anyone, and if they've given you consent to mail them only once a week, or whatever limit you've assured them will be all you'll send, you don't have their consent to mail them any more than that.

If you make that kind of promise, then you have to keep it. If you decide you want to send more mail, you have to ask them first.

The best way is to keep your weekly mailing list, and simply ask the people on it if they'd also like to join one where they'll get more frequent mails from you - if you offer something useful in exchange some will agree, and at least the others aren't going to unsubscribe.

Keeping your promise is about a whole lot more than simply staying on the right side of the anti-spam laws, though, important though that is. It's about persuading people on your list to trust you... because if they don't, they aren't going to buy from you. Not ever.

If they can't rely on you to keep your word on something as simple as how often you're going to e-mail them, why would they believe you when you tell them how great your products are, or that you'll honor any guarantees you give them... and if they can't trust you not to abuse their e-mail address, how are they going to trust you with their credit card details?

No matter what any course might try to tell you, success in internet marketing is much less about techniques than it is about two very basic things - consideration for the people that you deal with, and some simple common sense.

If you expect to be able to trust the people that you buy from, remember that your customers expect the same from you. If you don't want your inbox flooded out with mail, remember no-one else does, either.

If the advice you're given is to take some course of action that you wouldn't want someone else to do to you, you can be sure that people will react badly if you go ahead with it... but if you wish that other people would treat you as well as you look after your customers and the people on your mailing list, you're heading for Supreme Success. Go for it!

How can I Save Money ?

It's challenging in today's world to save money, especially during the holiday season. Spending money on gifts and traveling to visit family can really put a dent in your wallet. Knowing when to set aside money for yourself can seem like a tall order during these festive times. In reality, it is not as hard as it seems. Just follow these easy steps:

1. Set a Goal – Whatever your reason for saving, you should always set a goal. For an "in-case-of-emergency" fund, you should work toward three to six months of reserves. A goal also serves as your savings inspiration. It is easier to save when you have an objective.

2. Pay Yourself First – Each pay period, set aside $20 to $50 to your savings account (Check out this new saving account from IceSave). An easy way to do this is with Direct Deposit. Ask your employer to deposit a percentage of your pay to a savings account and the rest in your Checking so you gain the extra benefits it entails. You won't miss what you've saved because it is taken directly out of your paycheck before you can spend it.

3. Systematic Savings – Besides using Direct Deposit, you can also set up weekly, biweekly, monthly, twice-monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annual automatic transfers to your savings account. Letting the bank make these transfers decreases the temptation to spend and puts your savings on "auto-pilot."

4.Open an interest-bearing savings account. It’s a lot easier to keep track of your savings if you have them separate from your spending money. You can also usually get better interest on savings accounts than on checking accounts (if you get interest on your checking account at all). Consider higher-interest options such as CDs or money-market accounts for longer savings goals. You can also open an online savings account with one of the companies that offer them. Look around for the best savings interest rate and try to find one that adjusts its rate as the federal interest rate changes. You can then set up an automatic transfer from your checking account to your high interest savings account. Many employers allow you to deduct savings from your paycheck. The money is directly deposited in your savings account so you never even see it on your paycheck. You can also have investments for retirement taken directly out of your pay, and the taxes may be deferred with this option. If you typically keep a large balance in your checking account, consider moving most of that money into a linked savings account. Keep the money in savings until it is time to pay bills, then transfer enough from savings into checking to cover your bills. Make sure you check with your bank to see what the minimum balance requirements are for your checking account so you don't get hit with additional fees.

Taking Back Control

I admit it - there is no excuse for what I've done today. I know perfectly well the thing to do is keep my mind on good things, things I want to happen, things that energize me and empower me, and I take a lot of pleasure out of helping other people do the same... and what have I been doing all day?

Well, pretty nearly nothing. Nothing that's gone right, at any rate. The only thing I've done successfully from morning until night is make a mess of everything I've touched - and if that sounds uncharacteristically negative, that's just the point.

I dropped my guard and let myself be swamped by negative thoughts and feelings, and I've been reaping the rewards in terms of damaged concentration, mistakes, annoyance and wasted effort without once stopping to take the most important step of all - a step backwards to put things into perspective.

The story actually starts a couple of days ago, when I worked ridiculously late to finish something I was doing as a favor to a friend. Being overtired yesterday wasn't a good start... then the friend took the favor totally for granted, and I admit I wasn't pleased.

It shouldn't have mattered. I'd put a lot of effort into what I'd done, and I was pleased with the outcome. It's the fact that I'd completed the task successfully and with enjoyment that should have counted - but I'd expected to be complimented on it, or at least be thanked, or something.

I should have remembered that other people's appreciation (or the lack of it!) isn't what's important. If you rely on other people to make you feel good about yourself, even for a moment, the one thing you can almost always guarantee is disappointment.

What I should have done, of course, was to be honest with myself about the real reason for my annoyance (hurt pride, I'm sorry to admit!), then let it go, refocus on the things I'm aiming to achieve, and take the next step forward.

What I did was let my anger fester. I slept badly, and got up even more tired this morning... and the inevitable happened. Hard as I might try, I couldn't do a single thing and get it right.

My e-mails took what seemed like twice forever to download. I tried another e-mail program, and it was even slower. I'd meant to do a blog post, but I couldn't get the page to open. I tried to access Google, and I couldn't. The computer seemed to have no power, and was running ridiculously slowly. I ran a spyware check, and it took three times longer than it should have done.

By this time I was getting paranoid. What was it that I'd read about a sudden drastic falling-off in computer performance meaning it had been hijacked as a net-bot, and was sending tons of spam without my knowledge?

Fortunately at this point I began to realize that maybe it wasn't the computer that was running amok so much as my own thoughts and feelings. I took a deep breath, and went and made myself a cup of coffee.

When I came back and sat down again at the computer, I idly clicked on a piece of work I do (or rather, the computer does) for a University science project. It's one of those things where people volunteer a bit of their computer's spare capacity to help to process scientific data. It runs in the background, and doesn't affect whatever work you're doing.

On second thoughts, make that "it doesn't usually affect whatever work you're doing" - because with that one mouse-click the whole problem was resolved. The project was collecting its next batch of work, which usually takes only a few minutes... but this particular batch of work was enormous, and the download was taking several hours.

Not surprisingly, everything else that I'd been trying to do online was not responding as I'd thought it would - but all I had to do was wait till it had finished, and the computer would start working normally again.

It was an exact parallel with what had been going on in my own mind. Just as I'd been doing with my friend, I'd expected the computer to behave in ways that I'd mapped out for it, and was completely wrong-footed when it didn't.

Well, at least it's been a useful lesson. Even when you know the power your thoughts and feelings have to replicate themselves in what happens in your outside world, and you're determined to keep them positive and energizing, there's always a temptation to let yourself be swept away by a powerful emotion that gets out of your control.

Don't beat yourself up over it - just let your annoyance, worry, fear, anxiety or whatever else is knocking you off-balance, go.

Once you reach a calmer frame of mind, ask yourself what, is anything, is real about that emotion (in my friend's case, for example, absolutely nothing - in the computer's, a performance problem that needed to be identified and dealt with).

If there's something that you need to do to put any genuine difficulty right, go do it - if there's not, just take a break for a few minutes so you can refocus. Clear your mind completely, and let it stay blank for a few moments while you take several deep breaths.

Now go back to whatever you were doing, and see how much easier it is!

If you find it hard to keep your thoughts and feelings under your control, or you've never realized that it's even possible, you might like to check out Free Your Life From Stress, or fill your mind with the empowering and energizing track called "Above The Pairs Of Opposites", which is part of the Supreme Success system.

Your mind is under your control - but, as I've proved today, you have to reassert your authority over it from time to time!

Dance culture - Tecktronik

Wikipedia incalza
"Tecktonik is also a registered trademark. This is the first time a dance is protected that way"

Sasakyan Lang Ang Pahinga

December 13, Thursday lunchtime. I woke up with a smile on my face. There were no classes because of the transpo strike. Thursday night. That day should have been the day I worked on my term paper. It should have been... but due to available friends in my Yahoo Messenger list and to other temptations, I was not able to do it. instead...
December 14, Friday midnight. I was still awake, hoping I could still do my term paper. In fact, I did. I turned my status to Invisible and worked all dark 'till 4 in the morning. "Woo-hoo! Alas," I say. "All my work has finally made a term paper." Few minutes from then, the school bus will arrive and so I did not bother to sleep. I packed my things, and did the same routine, as if nothing irregular happened, as if I slept that night. Then the bus came, and I slept there till we arrived school. Friday lunchtime. The day was completely normal (teasing, laughing, talking everywhere) until that time. This might be what they call "moodswings". Suddenly, I began to feel silent and I didn't want to talk to anyone. Drowzee was attacking me. The others, thinking I feel normal, still tried to have fun with me. But to me, it was irritation. I wanted to conserve my energy so that I can have fun in the later swimming party. Friday afternoon. Dismissal time came. I finally drew a smile on my face. It was all back to normal. PARTY TIME. We had to go to SM Taytay before going to Czar's place because two of my friends had to buy some things, then we headed straight to the far house of Czarina. Of course, a lot of things happened and I don't want to narrate it here. But what struck me most (just like in writing a movie reflection) was when we (Neil, Nieva, Robes and I) did not sleep at all! Well before midnight, Sandip had a headache and was dizzy. To my concern, I had to massage her forehead with all patience. While massaging her head, I was drawn to sleep for about 10 to 15 minutes then I woke up. After that, I again fell to sleep for about 20 minutes and then woke up again. That was my rest. Moving on, we sang all night with the free Videoke machine in Czar's place. It was really fun. At first, Pasa was with us but he got really sleepy and had to sleep. As we sung "Umagang Kay Ganda" of Side A, the sun was on the horizon. Again, a successful no sleep for me. Whoo it was a tough day for us. Robes and Neil slept when the others have finally awoken. Nieva along with Ampo went home early. I together with Bello played dance/hip-hop songs that morning to make our temperature rise. At 10 o'clock, we left Czar's place (thank you, Czar!!!). JC, Bello, Sandip, Neil and I stopped by SM Taytay first. We just ate a little merienda and then left. The leaders of the action research groups (that includes me and JC) were supposed to meet Mr. Coloma there at 2pm but we just can't wait there so we went home. Haay. While eating there, second by second, I began to fall asleep, and then shake and wake up, even in the ride on the way home. Inside the tricycle, I also fell into sleep and the tricycle passed over our house. Saturday Lunchtime. It was a one -hour-sleep for me. 1PM, my sleep was destroyed. We were to watch some dolphin and sea lion show in Metrowalk Ortigas. The ride I had was again my sleeping time. From then on, as I close my eyes for about 10 seconds, I fall to sleep. I have poor control over my body. The Halo-halo from Icebergs I was eating tripped and got wasted. Knowing I had a volleyball game to attend to, I had to go home by 8:30pm through a taxi. That taxi was my bed. When I got home, I rushed to the court for the volleyball game. Damn! Unfortunately, we lost! I had so many errors. I have distracting control over my hands. Both of the only two service shots I made missed. Haay. Then I went home and sat in front of the computer and then typed this post.
From 12pm thursday to 12pm friday, I had 24 hours of being awake. From 12pm friday, to 11:30pm friday, I had 24+11.5 hours of being awake. From 12am Saturday to 12pm Sunday, I had 24+11.5+12 hours of being awake.3pm Sunday to 8pm Sunday, I had 24+11.5+12+5 hours of being awake. 9pm Sunday to 10:30 pm Sunday, I had 24+11.5+12+5+1.5 hours of being awake = 54 out of the possible 58 and a half hours. hay. poor you, Gelo. So after uploading all the pics, I will return to my original bed and sleep my way to trouble. [Sunday will be a busy day again. term paper!]

Easy ways to cut your energy bill

A bill recently introduced in California would ban the sale of energy-hogging incandescent light bulbs by 2012. Aside from changing your light bulbs, there are some other things you can do around the house to save you energy and money.

1: Take an energy audit

Your home isn't very energy efficient if you have less than six inches of insulation in your attic, if your furnace is 10 years or older, or you have lots of windows on the North side and you live in a cold climate, according to the Alliance to Save Energy.

But, there are some specific calculations you can make to determine just how energy efficient your home is. Take a free energy audit online at the Department of Energy's Web site. This tool can tell you where your home is leaking energy and what you can do about it.

2: Cut the drafts

The average house loses up to 20 percent of its heat or air-conditioning leakage from air ducts alone, according to Energy Star. Make sure you repair your leaky ducts and seal drafty doors, windows and baseboards.

An easy way to figure out where the leaks may be, is to light a candle or some incense near your windows and doors and see where the flame flickers. Reducing drafts in a home could save you up to 30 percent on your utility bill annually.

3: Replace your appliances

Replacing your appliances with Energy Star appliances is another way to benefit your wallet.

First, Energy Star products are intended to exceed energy efficiency levels of other products by 20 to 75 percent. It is estimated that the average household could save $400 a year just by using Energy Star Products.

You'll also want to get in touch with your utility company to see what tax incentives and rebates are offered for replacing water-guzzling or power-hogging appliances with eco-friendly ones. To find out more about Energy Star products, go to energystar.gov.

4: Get unplugged

You might not know it, but all those little gadgets you keep plugged in are taking a toll on your electricity bill. You know, those things like your Ipod charger, your cell phone and Blackberry charger.

Even keeping the coffee pot plugged in is wasting energy and costing you money. In fact, all these devices make up about 5 percent of your bill! Here's a tip: turn off that computer and unplug these vampire appliances, and you'll be taming the wild energy hog.

5: Think flat screen

To cut your energy bill, you may also want to consider replacing that bulky computer monitor you have in the home office. A flat panel computer screen uses a third of the electricity of regular computer monitors. The difference is that same as if you leave a 50-watt bulb on all year.

And if you're thinking about replacing that big screen TV, think about investing in an LCD - it uses half the energy of a plasma TV.
