Storm 18 moves out, Storm 19 is born

Let's drift down memory lane as we remember Storm 18! The moments of storm 18... I went to Santa Cruz to catch it in all its glory...

Here I am, reporting from just outside Santa Cruz, on the San Lorenzo River...

SANTA CRUZ rainfall on Saturday, Feb. 14: 0.10 in - Sunday, February 15: 2.03 in. Monday, Feb. 16: 0.90 in., Tuesday, Feb. 17, 0.09 in., TOTAL: 3.12 inches

Here in Fresno and Clovis, Storm 18 is still in the process of clearing out and giving a delightful afternoon of medium intensity rain here today. The dark clouds are approaching from the south, which is causing the Northern Lighting Effect (NLE) all over Fresno today, which produces the finest quality of rainy day lightning - a great day for flower photography or just admiring the back yard birds. The light quality of northern exposure light is prized for artist's lofts, but when nature conspires to give it to the entire outdoors, it is at its most spectacular. Also today, the sky seems to be conspiring to offer Rainbow Viewing Opportunies (RBVOs) this evening. Make sure your camera has fully charged batteries!

UPDATE: I FORGOT my batteries today and MISSED the RBVO. Still missed out on some amazing cloud pics.

Fresno rainfall totals from storm 18, Monday Feb 16: 0.39 inches, Tuesday Feb 17: 0.28 inches Total: .67

Wow, what a beauty of a storm birth -- captured just now, February 17, 2009 at 2pm PST.

Update 090219... Storm 19 moves quickly to the West Coast and builds strength with astonishing speed. Hey, I see a fire breathing rodent coming out of a volcano.
