Living Conventionally

A young lesbian MySpace friend (I'm niiicedave, btw) posted this video from "The View" on her blog with the heading "Really!?"



The View gals are speaking in generality so generalized, it starts to sound a little far fetched, but the point about living conventionally, doing what you're supposed to do, being a member of the "salt of the Earth", is so true! Many older men I know have similar backgrounds; that is, lived conventionally, the house, the kids, the sales job, the white flight neighborhood, the mortgage, the whole 9 yards. I can't imagine having lived that way, much less having left it behind (how messy the legal troubles alone must be!), but I will confess I feel inadequate in comparison to these men because I was never able to do such a way of life. I've also been somewhat of a failure at living in gay conventionality as well. I have a male friend from high school with a husband and a fabulous wealthy existence in an upper-crust "gayborhood".
Where's my fabulous house and fabulous wife, to quote that Talking Heads song! I don't know, I don't f**king know. I haven't a clue.
