The baseball season is so young still, but the Dodgers have been raising eyebrows with a blistering win-loss record right out of the chute, including an MLB-all-time-record-season-opening-home-winning-streak of 13. But then something happened to them that made the national news, right after the economy and terrorism stories. Manny Ramirez, their ex-Red Sox star slugger, was caught with a 'roid cycling drug in his urine. He's out for 50 games, plus a huge loss of salary, as punishment. This is L.A. baseball's 2nd disaster of the season, and the first one also made the national news and it was tragic -- that fierce pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim was killed by a drunk driver. Even people who don't follow baseball were aware of that event.
