About Me......

Hello! Welcome to my blog, thanks for visiting. For the last fifteen years I have worked and studied in the field of Finance. In 2003, upon finishing my Undergraduate Degree in Financial Markets at UMass, I started my first real job as a Proprietary Equity Trader (aka professional day trader).
I spent three years in Atlanta trading stocks, and also met my wife (Lady Thief) there too. In 2006 I moved back to my home of Boston MA to pursue a Master of Science Degree in Finance. I also switched careers from being an Equity Trader to being a Foreign Currency Dealer. This new role had me appearing twice monthly as a guest commentator for CNBC.
I completed my Master's program in 2008, and moved out of trading and into the world of Quantitative Finance. I've been working as a Quant since, and most recently was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
OK, so that's the professional stuff. I also began playing fantasy sports when in high school in the late 1990's. Back then, we didn't have computers to track all our stats automatically, so everyone had to check everyone else's stats in the newspaper everyday. Sure it wasn't the most efficient, but we were dedicated.
In 2001 I began commissioning my own leagues via Yahoo. Since then my leagues have grown considerably, and I now run two leagues per season (basketball, baseball and football). One league has 14 members, and the other has 16 members. The competition is high, the prizes are high, and the experience is deep.
Now let's put it all together. While working as a trader I learned the unique techniques of buying low and selling high. Most importantly I learned that buying low is amazingly difficult to do because it always feels so wrong, same thing with selling high. However as a trader you are taught to ignore emotion and follow your rules. Works like a charm.
As a Quant, I learned to apply numbers and statistics in a meaningful way to value stocks, to come up with a gauge of expected future performance. It dawned on me one day that I could apply these same concepts, from trading and quant analysis, to fantasy sports. After developing a strategy that has worked for me extremely well, I decided to start this blog and share my knowledge with you.
I hope you enjoy everything here, and I hope my insight and analysis helps you dominate your league. I always welcome questions and feedback and look forward to building a community here.

Thanks for stopping by, and don't worry playa, Thief's got you covered.
