11/04/2008, a new American President was elected.
He is not just the first African-American elected president of the US of A; neither is he a mere non-white president-elect. He is first and foremost the truest American President in all sense of the word America. United States of America. Melting pot. Global state. Land of dreams. The Land where dreams become reality secured by the promise of LIBERTY.
He is an American. The embodiment of the dream that any of our children too can one day become the leader of the free world.
Before even taking his first step into his office, he has given me, personally, something I have sought all my life. An identity. A homeland.
No longer am I simply a stranger in a strange land. No longer am I an exiled 3rd generation Chinese-Indonesian. Neither a homeless non-Chinese-speaking person of Chinese ancestry. Nor simply a naturalized American citizen. Nor just an Asian American or a Chinese American.
I. am. an. American.
Liberated.
Accepted.
Assimilated.
Self-integrated.
